What networks have you joined this week?Views: 580

Althea Garner

Prompted by Dana's comment in another thread, I thought it might be useful to new Ryze members to hear:

** which networks we have joined this week?

** what, if anything, have you found interesting about a specific network?

I'll kick off:

Reclusive Rapture ~ http://rsrks-network.ryze.com/

This network is for those who are loners... people who think and get caught up in their own minds. I like some of the poetry that comes from this network and certainly there are those who have a talent for words and language. A lot of Hindi spoken here, but I just skip over those, as my Hindi is non-existent! :)

Let me Vent ~ http://letmevent-network.ryze.com/

I did not just join this one... I joined some time ago. At first I thought that this would be the ideal place to get the bickering off the networks, but it is not that kind of 'vent'. Instead, it is more of a 'let me share my frustrations' network. Still, the folks are very nice there and when the humor starts, it FLOWS!

Over to you...... which networks have you joined and what is it that you like about them?

I joined Teaching Kids about Money, Women of Power, Follow up is key, and The parents lounge: some of the topics are/were great, but the responses to them, well, there aren't much. The Parents Lounge has the most activity and memebers. I'll stay on the other networks this week to see how the moderators handle it.......

Okay so I dropped some networks that just weren't working. (I know when I upgrade and I start a network it's going to be functional everyday) but these are the ones I joined in the past few days:

Profit-Nonprofit Connection
http://pnp-network.ryze.com/

Black Business to Business
http://blackb2b-network.ryze.com/

Blogging for business
http://blogbrandz-network.ryze.com/

Blogs and Bloggers
http://blog-network.ryze.com/

Successful Blog Publishing
http://blogging-network.ryze.com/

I like activity...so we'll see what turns out to be the best for me and my business for 2007

Althea and Dana,

This is a GREAT TOPIC.

The most badly understood aspect of Ryze is network membership and how that relates who you can contact. Dana has just suggested that she "dropped some networks" and joined several new ones.

I'm in 79 networks. I joined a couple this week, but I didn't DROP any. Even if a network is CLOSED you can still contact all the members of that network. It's a silly concept, but if those are the rules, that's how you play the game. All the back posts of DEAD networks continue to remain available, so there is a need to make contact to the people who posted there possible.

Understand the rule: You can contact ANYONE who shares a network with YOU. About 50% of all the people on RYZE are in ZERO to THREE networks. As a free member you can join up to SIXTY networks.

Lets assume that a network contains 500 members, and that all those members are only in ONE network. (Not exactly sensible but stay with me.)

If there are 400,000 members on Ryze here's how many people over half of all Ryze members can contact.

Zero Networks Nobody
One Network 500
Two Networks 1000
Three Networks 1500

It doesn't matter a bit how many people are in Ryze, if you are in three networks the effective size of Ryze is something like 1500 people.

Oh yes, and you can also contact friends and friends of friends. Most people have fewer than FIVE friends, so add something like 150 more to the numbers above. Vast numbers of Ryze members are in zero networks with ONE friend. For them the effective size of Ryze is FIVE people. (Actually often only TWO, because the friend only as one connection too.)

The message is clear. JOIN many networks.
Better still participate in those networks.

To find good networks, look on the homepage of people you respect and join some of the networks they have joined. Yes some of those networks are dead, so it's sensible to avoid those ones. Even so, build the number of networks you are in to something like 30.

It's true that a sensible number of active networks is probably about 10, but trust me, if you join 30 there will only be about 10 that are really active anyway. You'll cope fine.

Regards
John
