What are your plans for the holidays?
Hopefully it includes networking.
I know many people generally use this time to catch up with family and that's good, but make sure to also include some time for ryze or whatever other online social network you use.

This will give you an edge over your competitors who are on vacation right now.

Great! Always have some business cards on you. You never know who you'll meet at your kid's functions.

I agree, some people do stop networking around the holidays. I think because most people are using the holidays as a break from work. But it only takes a minute to add business networking into your holiday socializing.

That's very true Elysa. I had a networking opportunity Sunday at one of my daughter's events. I ran into the lady that did my sister's hair. I kept forgetting to get her info from my sister, but I was able to get it just because I was thinking about it. She got a new client and she wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary.

Hi DeAnna,

Congratulations on turning your daughter's event into a networking opportunity! The lady who did your sister's hair got a new client - but did she become yours? Is there something you can do to help her with administrivia? Just thought I would ask! "-)

Happy Holidays,

Carol,
I don't know yet. I use a pay it forward mentality. People usually are more receptive to hearing about business after you've done some business with them. I'm sure she does need some help with her administrative needs. Great point.

If I can add to this, because it's the new year...how do you build buisness when the holiday is coming? (new members, jump right in)

DeAnna,

Just remember, people do business with those they know, like and trust. To develop trust, offer to do something for them - whether it is for a civic organization, personal or business. Believe me, it does come back around!
