I've learned videos are a very effective way to rank in Google and promote your business. So I'm learning how to use this new (to me) media. Have any of you put a video up on Youtube about your business? And could you post the link? Searching through old files I found you can go to youtube and then do a search for "you tutorial". It works. I found a whole series.

Sylvia,

I have yet to make - let alone post - a video to Youtube. However, I have watched a lot of Youtube videos. I agree with you it should be a powerful marketing tool. But, you will need a video camera and program like Camtasia Studio or something similar to pull off the proper recording and editing of your video for placement on Youtube. What if you do not possess any of those things? Well, there is a FREE program that can help you create and post online a slideshow that even enables you to do voice-overs. The site is called Slideshare. Check it out.

Lamar,

Your link takes us to an unrelated site (Washinton VC).

I believe the URL is http://www.slideshare.net (not slideshare.com).

Sylvia, I have posted a video to youtube, but not one for my business as of yet. All you need is a webcam ( I.E. I have a logitech 4000 ) and you do not need any software, as it can be done and edited through youtube very easily. I just have a video of me relaxing playing a native american flute. I did it as a test. http://youtube.com/pcoach4u

Good job, David.
I have never seen a flute like that played. Nice and clear too. Keep it up. People like to see who you are when you promote your business. I'd give you a link, but I can't get this webcam to record. Stalls out the computer. Still trying. I may have to get a cheap camcorder.

Sylvia, Thanks for the compliment. That was just a short clip I made when bored on cold winter's night.... lol
You mentioned that could not record due to "stalling out computer." How much ram due you have in the computer?

Sylvia,

While I have still not done my first Youtube video, I have come across a Web 2.0 innovative site that I think may interest you. It is called Orb Networks. What makes Orb so special it that it allows you to freely upload all manner of content from your desktop to be viewed publicly online. This includes documents, pictures, audio, video and even a "live" TV signal. What is even more impressive to me is how Orb manages to do this. Orb actually provides free software that uploads your entire computer's folders to a private area online exclusively for your use. From that private area you can create public channels for the online world to view. This means you can remotely update what the public sees on any one of the channels you create using any online mobile device anywhere in the world.

Let me give you an example. I want to get The Geysers - the world's largest geothermal operation - to have a state-of-the-art security operation. I have written letters over the years to various important people to no avail. Nobody seems to care. Most of my correspondence - even to the news media - goes unanswered. But, NOW I am publicly broadcasting my concern to specific people. I not only send out specific letters to specific people - but have a slide show they can view 24/7. Want to see what I am talking about? Click here.

I do not know if this will make a positive difference, but I am giving it a shot.
